Solution
When you restart your computer after installing ESET Cybersecurity for Mac, the Product Activation window will appear. If the window does not automatically open, click the ESET icon on the menu bar and select Product Activation to manually open it.

There are two activation methods:
- Select Activate using anActivation Key if you are activating your CD for the first time.
- If you have already activated your key, select Activate using a Username and Password and refer to your license email for your Username and Password.
Activate using Activation Key:
If you purchased a boxed retail version of ESET Cybersecurity and you are activating for the first time, select Activate using an Activation Key (recommended) and click Next (see Figure 1-1). The activation key is usually supplied on the inside of your CD case and consists of 12, 13 or 20 characters.

- Enter your Activation key and the appropriate information into each field.
Important!
Enter the Activation key exactly as it is printed.- There are 4 hyphens in the key and they are required
- Make sure you don't add an extra blank space
- When entering your phone number, do not include any special symbols such as parentheses ( ) or periods (see Figure 1-2).
- All of the fields must be filled with the exception of the two 'optional' fields.
- Be sure to enter a valid email address, as your license details will be sent there.

- After clicking Activate, your username and password will be entered automatically and your product will perform a virus signature database update.

Activate using a Username and Password:
Mac os x 10.9.5 emulator. If you downloaded ESET Cybersecurity from the Internet or have already activated your key, follow the instructions below to enter your license details. If you are activating for the first time, follow the instructions above.
If the Product Activation window does not automatically open, click the ESET icon on the menu bar and select Product Activation to manually open it.
- SelectActivate using a Username and Password and click Next.

- Enter your Username and Password into the appropriate fields and click Activate. If you do not remember your license details, visit our Lost License page to have it resent to your email.
Important!
Please remember to enter your username and password exactly as they are written.
- The username and password are case sensitive and the hyphen in the username is necessary
- The password is ten characters long and all lowercase
- If you are copying and pasting, make sure you don't select an extra blank space
- We do not use the letter L in passwords (use the number one (1) instead)
- A big '0' is the number zero (0), a little 'o' is the lowercase letter o

[KB2835] I have installed ESET Cybersecurity for Mac OS X but it will not open
Issue
- You install ESET Cybersecurity for Mac OS X but after restarting your computer the program does not open
- No product activation screen appears prompting you to enter your Username and Password after installation
- After upgrading to OS X Yosemite (10.10) ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro will not open
Solution
There are two possible solutions to resolve this issue. Please start with solution 1 and only continue on to solution 2 if the issue is not resolved.
- Repair disk permissions
- Click the Finder icon in the dock located at the bottom of the screen and then From the OS X menu bar, click Go → Utilities to open the OS X Utilities folder.

- Double-click the Disk Utility application.

- Click the operating system partition from the list on the left, named 'Macintosh HD' by default. Click the Repair Disk Permissions button to scan your disk for permissions errors.

- Restart the computer and the ESET Cybersecurity Activation window will appear. Enter your Username and Password and then click Continue.
- Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon on the menu bar and selecting Open ESET Cybersecurityor by clickingFinder → Applications →ESET Cybersecurity.
- Click Update → Update modules. If you are able to download the modules update, or if you see the Modules have been updated successfully message then you have successfully activated ESET Cybersecurity.

If you are still unable to activate ESET Cybersecurity, continue to solution 2 to use the Terminal application and run a 'change owner' command.
- Use Terminal to enter the change owner command
- Click the Finder icon in the dock located at the bottom of the screen and then From the OS X menu bar, click Go → Utilities to open the OS X Utilities folder.
- Double-click the Terminal application.
- Click the Finder icon in the dock located at the bottom of the screen and then From the OS X menu bar, click Go → Utilities to open the OS X Utilities folder.

- In the Terminal prompt enter the following command and press Return (Enter the command exactly as shown below. '$USER' is not intended to be replaced by your username for this command.):
- sudo chown -R '$USER' '$HOME'

- You will be prompted to enter your login password (the password you use to log on to your computer.) Type your password carefully, though no characters will appear in the Terminal window your entry is being recorded. Once you are finished pressReturn.
- Restart the computer and the ESET Cybersecurity Activation window will appear. Enter your Username and Password and then click Continue.
Eset For Mac Download
- Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon on the menu bar and selecting Open ESET Cybersecurityor by clickingFinder → Applications →ESET Cybersecurity.
- Click Update → Update modules. If you are able to download the latest modules update, or if you see the Modules have been updated successfully message then you have successfully activated ESET Cybersecurity.
